Stay in PE
Accommodation
The school has no accommodation of its own, however we do assist students in finding a suitable place to stay. There is good self catering accommodation available within a one kilometer radius of the field for around R2000 per month.
Food is inexpensive. You can eat well for around R60 per day, all told. There are many take-away places in close proximity to the field, a few of which provide home cooked style meals.
Our long term students seem to prefer finding accommodation on the beachfront, which is about two and a half km from the airport.
The school is in the process of acquiring beachfront accommodation for students and provided there are at least four students who are interested in making use of it at any given time the cost will be R2500 per month per student living there.
Transport
Many students find accommodation within walking distance of the airfield. Since the airfield itself is close to shopping centers and fast food places they cope without transportation.
Our longer term students often purchase cheap second hand vehicles for transport. Since students often stay at the same accommodation they also share transport. Many students have lately been purchasing Vuka Scooters second hand and short term students have used bicycles to good effect.
The school also has a car available for hire at R2000 per month. The intention is that 4 or 5 students will share in its use and also in the expense.
Public transport exists in the form of a bus service and there is both a formal and informal taxi service.
Exchange Rates
Exchange rates are around R17 to the Pound Sterling and R10 to the U.S. Dollar. Port Elizabeth is a very inexpensive place to stay.
Visas
The school will apply for a student non-working visa on your behalf.
